Winter 2018 Anime

Part 2 of my Winter 2018 anime preview is here. I’ve watched a couple more and was surprised by some that I didn’t know was coming out. That’s why it’s always good to check everything that comes out because you could miss a little nugget of surprise.

Anyways, if you can’t tell which anime I am really pumped about – well this whole post is pretty much an advertisement for it.

Ryuuou no Oshigoto!

Ryuuou no Oshigoto!

I am a chess junkie so any anime with a board game twist into it is something I’m always going to check out, always. I thought this was going to be one of those soft cutesy anime but a couple more minutes into the episode and I was hooked.

Lets’ join the youngest and highest ranking shogi title holder and his disciple as they traverse through the world of competitive shogi. Let’s just say this more outward rather than the inward 3Gatsu No Lion.

You seasonal normal human get’s sucked into a fantasy game world and become a hero.

I’m ok with this one though. The presentation and how they transitioned to the fantasy element was something a little more fresh than what’s normally out there.

Hitori no Shita – The Outcast S2

I didn’t really think season 1 was good. It had potential but it never followed through what it could have been. I’m such a fan of martial arts anime that I watched the first half of the first season.

The 2nd season though is a little bit more promising in the advertisement and trailer division. The protagonist is finally going to the martial arts tournament of the tournament. Finally some plot progression and hopefully, they deliver.

The artwork looks interesting. The story might be a little whack for some viewers from what I can tell from the premise.

Overlord II

I don’t know what the charm of this anime is. I thought the first season was alright. One of the better human gets transported to another fantasy game world. I really had no hesitation to watch the 2nd season. They do have a lot of mysteries in the plot that needs resolving.

Overall

I am still waiting for a couple of animes to come out but this season looks promising already. Ryuuou no Oshigoto! really has me pumped, I wanna see more of this types of animes’ but TBH, you are only really doing a service to a niche group already in a niche group. Pretty much Ryuuou boosted this whole season up to A+ for me and there are more animes’ I haven’t checked out yet.

As always, feel free to drop me a line of anime recommendations that I should check out. Also, I have an IG account now so check that out as well.
